As I sit here writing this with my sweet 3-month old in my lap, I can’t help but feel filled with gratitude. After getting pregnant almost immediately with my first son, we never could have imagined the challenges that would await us when trying to have our second. We had always planned for that classic “2 year gap.” When the 2-year gap turned to 3 years and then 4 years (eventually 5 years by the end of the journey), we thought we may never be able to give our son a sibling. After the first year of trying, my OBGYN finally took me seriously that maybe they should do some more testing. I had already had 3 miscarriages and so finally I was “allowed” to get a recurrent miscarriage bloodwork panel. That bloodwork helped lead us to a potential issue with blood clotting, but didn’t give the full picture. I then had 2 more miscarriages, even while on blood thinning injections. I requested a referral to a fertility doctor at that point and we started working with a reproductive endocrinologist. After some additional testing there, we were told “everything looked fine” and that our issues were due to unknown reasons. Although IUI wasn’t our best option, we went through with 2 unsuccessful IUIs before it was recommended we move on to IVF with PGT. It didn’t sit right with us that we could go through the entire IVF process and still miscarry at the end of it all. We still didn’t know the root cause of what was going on and no one seemed to want to dig any deeper to find out. We thought that doctor was our only hope, but didn’t proceed with IVF anyways. Instead, we decided to wait it out and try naturally again while adding supplements and implementing more exercise/better diet into the equation too. Again, 2 more miscarriages during those few months. Then, my hematologist mentioned to me that he had heard of a doctor named Giovanni Jubiz. My hematologist had heard him speak somewhere and knew he handled more complex cases similar to mine. I had no idea what a reproductive immunologist was and certainly had no idea that day would change our lives/set us out on the right path towards our rainbow baby. From the very first consultation with Dr. Jubiz, I just knew things were different this time. I told my husband when I got off the phone, “this guy knows his stuff. He told me he’s going to be able to help us.” Dr. Jubiz instilled confidence in our journey that had been lost for so long. He did not settle for the issues being “unknown” and put a plan in place to make sure we came up with a solution. After a few months of testing, bloodwork, and getting on the medications Dr. Jubiz recommended, our FIRST cycle after getting the green light to try again landed us pregnant with our miracle. I was shocked just the few changes we made ended up letting me get and stay pregnant so quickly. Throughout my pregnancy, Dr. Jubiz was a huge advocate for me and my baby. He monitored things closely and adjusted medications/plans as he saw fit. As a recurrent miscarriage mom, the losses caused a lot of anxiety, but Dr. Jubiz always made me feel comfortable knowing that he was invested in the process alongside us. I ended up delivering a healthy baby boy and we are forever grateful for the help Dr. Jubiz and his staff provided. After 3 years of hopelessness and heartache, it just took one doctor to actually care, to listen, and to take the time to seek answers. I will always recommend this clinic to anyone going through something similar. Thank you again Dr. Jubiz & team! | |
